Liposculpture or Liposuction is a procedure developed to remove fat deposits that fail to respond to diet and exercise. Frequent target areas are the hips, thighs, abdomen, buttocks, knees or love handles. Facial liposculpture involves removal of fat from under the chin and neck. Both men and women of all ages who are healthy may be good candidates for liposculpture.
Dr. Anderson uses the newest, safest techniques to achieve the most desirable results. These include tumescent liposculpture and the use of thin cannulas. Each patient receives an extensive consultation to plan the most effective procedure for her or his specific needs. Procedures are performed in Dr. Anderson's own surgical suite which is AAAHC accredited to help assure the highest possible safety standards. Depending on the extent of the patient's liposculpture, local anesthesia may be used combined with IV sedation.
Small incisions are made near the area where the fat is to be removed. A thin, hollow tube called a cannula is attached to a machine that creates a vacuum. Dr. Anderson carefully removes the unwanted fat as gently as possible to minimize bruising. Patients are home resting the same day as surgery. A tight fitting garment is worn to reduce swelling.
The results of liposculpture are apparent within two to three weeks, but the full benefits may not be visible for several months or more. Individual results may vary, but with realistic expectations most patients experience improved self-esteem and positive body image
